Description

The so-called "Björknäsgård" (birch manor) is located about 50 meters away from the house of your landlord, in the middle of a very beautiful scenery, including woodland. After about 400 m you will reach your small own beach with footbridge and boathouse, where you can also rent canoes.Mariefred, directly at the "Mälaren", offers everything, necessary for good and relaxing holidays. You have excellent opportunities for swimming, you can go in for sports, among other things golfing, hiking along the "Sörmlandsleden" or start a canoe tour to Marvikarna. You have a lot of cultural sights, like for example, the famous castle of "Gripsholm". In Mariefred (9 km away) you will find cosy restaurants, where you can have a good meal. Also Stockholm can by reached within only 35 minutes by a fast train. The same destination you can also reach by water with the motor ship "S/S Mariefred".About 10 km away from your holiday place there is the "Skottvångs Gruva", where many activities take place in the summer time. Your small holiday home has a bedroom with two single beds, which can be easily put together to form a double bed, a living room with sofa and dining place and an exit to terrace as well as a well-equipped kitchen. At the other side of the garden you can use a Finnish sauna.

Infos about the region Södermanland

The province borders in the south to Östergötland, in the west to Närke, in the northwest to Västmanland, in the northeast to Uppland and in the east and southeast to the Baltic Sea.
The capital Stockholm is situated partly in Södermanland. The second part is located in Uppland. Traditionally, the line between the two provinces is drawn in the water between the old town and the district of Södermalm in central Stockholm.
Södermanland, popularly known as Sörmland, refers to the land south of the lake Mälaren. Like Uppland in the north, the province has numerous ancient remains (nearly 100,000) and a large population that approximately amounts to 1.1 million people.
The province is dominated by lowland and wooded hills, and of the many lakes. So it is a typical flat landscape; Södermanland is nowhere more than 200 meters above sea level.
The characteristic landscape type is formed by a combination of faults that mainly go in the direction from the east to the west, and large river valleys. Through these faults the land sunk from the south to the north, so that the crack along the fault on the north side was lowered, while the south remained.
Södermanland is also the center of the Swedish nobility with a variety of mansions.
Just as Södermanland, Uppland has a fantastic archipelago, both the part called the Stockholm Archipelago (east of Södermanland's Södertörn peninsula) and the one outside the coast of Södermanland.
