Holidays in a holiday apartment at the West Coast

Orust is an island and municipality in the Bohuslän region at the West Coast of Sweden. Here you will find a lively skerry scenery with islands like Gullholmen, Käringön, Malö and Flatön.
The neighboring municipalities are Lysekil to the north, Uddevalla to the northeast, Stenungsund to the southeast and Tjörn to the south. Göteborg is located about 80 kilometers to the south.
Henån in northern Orust is the largest communityand functions as the chief town of the municipality.
And just here you will find this holiday apartment in the attic storey of a residential building and with a view of the sea.
About 80 square meters are distributed over a small kitchen corner , a large living room with convertible sofa, a shower , WC and a bedroom. In the small guest hut at the property there are two extra places to sleep when required.
You will have access to a boathouse, a landing stage and you can use a small, older sailing boat on-site. However, you should have used already a sailing boat once in order to know how to handle it, thus peventing you from becoming shipwrecked in the extended skerries.

Orust is the third-largest island of Sweden with a total area of 346 km², while the municipality as a whole has a total area of 388 km². Currently (2004) the island has about 15.000 inhabitants, a number which multiplies in summer. Most of the municipality comprises countryside, with a number of small population centers. The history of Orust is characterized first and foremost by the herring periods. When the herring came, the population and level of prosperity increased sharply, before then going into decline when the herring population decreased. The landscaspe´s bare cliffs bear witness to the most recent herring period: The train-oil works required large quantities of firewood, leaving the entire coast virtually treeless.
Today Orust is best known for manufacturing pleasure crafts at both large and very small boatyards. Every second boat exported from Sweden comes from Orust. The industry is small-scale in nature, with most business having between one and ten employees.
Orust can be reached by road from the south, via the Skåpesund Bridge from Tjörn or from the north via the Vindön Bridge. By sea the island can be reached by ferry to Svanesund from Kolhättan on the mainland or by private boat.

    Bohuslän

The country's westernmost province, Bohuslän, is located at the Skagerrak, the strait running between Norway and the southwest coast of the Jutland peninsula of Denmark, connecting the North Sea and the Kattegatt sea area, which leads to the Baltic Sea.
Bohusläns is bordering to Norway and in the east to Dalsland and Västergötland. The city of Gothenburg is located partially in Bohuslän, Västergötland’s border runs at Hisingen in Gothenburg. Gothenburg is with its around 550,000 inhabitants Sweden's second largest city and offers a variety of activities, including Liseberg amusement park.
When you consider the West Coast, and in particular, Bohuslän, you often get a picture of the beautiful archipelago and bare rocks in front of your eyes. That is precisely the province's signature. The proximity to Norway makes this area very interesting for our neighbours but also for visitors from all over Europe.
Bohuslän's unique archipelago has wonderfully smooth granite rocks and a beautiful and vibrant coastal line. Bohuslän pantry is large, deep, blue and full of salty delicacies as seafood in world-class. Bohuslän is also a kayaking paradise of high caliber.
