Child-friendly holiday home close to the lake

This accomodation is a cosy holiday home of approx 60 sqm, located at the edge of a small, sleepy village with 16 houses.

The house consists of a small entrance area, a kitchen in an open room solution to the living room as well as two bedrooms and a roofed over veranda with garden furniture.
The kitchen is equipped/furnished with a fridge, freezer, cooker, oven and microwave. In the living room with dining area you will also find a fireplace. The sofa bed and TV, etc. are moved to a TV room (a new extension on the house).
The larger of the two bedrooms includes a bunk bed which has a width of 120 cm below and of 80 cm above. In the smaller bedroom you will find two single beds with a width of 80 respectively 75 cm.
Adjoining the living room is a new annex building (built pre-2015). It houses the bathroom with biological toilet, wash basin, shower and washing machine. The expansion is also a TV room and a sleeping loft with 2 beds. If necessary, cot, high chair or extra bed is also deployed.

At the property which has a size of 3000 square meters and which borders on a forest, you will have enough room for fun and games. There is a swing, a sandpit and a small playhouse. The nearest lake is only 150 meters away. You will have access to a footbridge/landing stage with a rowing boat.

The nearest place for bathing is about 500 meters away from the footbridge/landing stage and there you can plunge into the refreshing water when there are hot summer days.

There is one unusual feature concerning the property. Only 10 meters away a railway line passes which is closed down and which can be used for a trolley. Trolleys can be rented from the landlord for 150 SEK/day and you can go exploring the old railway line at a length of nearly 60 km, passing places for bathing, weather protected picnic benches, beautiful lakes and idyllic nature.
But you can also go exploring all this on hiking trails which are passing this special area.

If you long for more municipal settlement and culture, then you will find this 30 km away in Mora. There you have shopping facilities, you can go there on a boat tour on the lake Siljan, visit the Vasa Museum (famous because of cross-country skiing) or the Anders Zorn Museum (one of the most popular Swedish artist). Animal lovers can experience and watch traditional pastoral agriculture (transhumance) in Kättboåsen (15 km away) where formerly (and still today) working animals are grazing on lush alpine pastures or they can visit the Bear Park of Orsa (60 km away). This park is well-known for the largest polar bear enclosure in the world, but also for its enclosure for wolves and the Siberian tigers, the probably most scarcely predatory big cats in the world. In case you get the feeling that it is too peaceful and boring at your place, so you can visit the leisure and amusement park in Leksand, called „Sommarland“, with an emphasis on bathing/swimming fun (about 70 kilometers away).

Infos about the region Dalarna

Dalarna in central Sweden, located northwest of Stockholm, has a long border towards Norway. The name of the province (Eng: “the valleys”) originates in the province's natural character. Miles of forests, mountains, lakes and villages around Lake Siljan, with Leksand, Mora and Orsa as major cities. Siljan region's tourism center is located in Dalarna.
But it is not only the wonderful natural landscape that has made Dalarna well known. The picturesque villages with red houses, painted in "Falu Red Paint" and the province's rich folk culture have named Dalarna "The most Swedish province in Sweden." In the resort Nusnäs at Siljan lake the famous "Dala horses" are manufactured, which have become popular symbols in whole Sweden.
Historically seen, Dalarna had great significance. The population of Dalarna has always been self-minded and often revolted and rebelled against the various kings. King Gustav Vasa fled here from captivity in Denmark and managed to persuade a Dalarna rebellion against Denmark after having traveled from his pursuers on skis from Sälen to Mora. The Danes were defeated and Gustav Vasa became king of Sweden. Even today, a major ski competition takes place on this site called "Vasaloppet".
In addition, in the landscape around Lake Siljan Dalarna offers large areas with wilderness character. There are mountains, large forests, rivers and lakes and large marshes. Here you can find solitude, fishing, go hiking or try river rafting.
