Log cabin with fireplace and sauna in Lapland/Sweden

About 2½ hour´s drive from Luleå you will find the log cabin Bagarstugan at the former forest farm Aspberg, about 50 km north of the polar circle. The farm consists of a main building which will also be rented out (Object 3243) and this log cabin, the "Bagarstugan", which is the former bakehouse of the farm, dating from the 19th century.
The small log cabin "Bagarstugan" has been renovated in 2008 and with a living space of about 35 square meters it is well suited for 2 - 3 persons. There is a cooker with four hotplates and an oven, combined fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine and electric kettle as well as SAT TV. In addition you will have an air-to-air heat pump as well as electrical heaters. The fireplace works excellently, however you should really be cautious when lighting it.

The bedroom includes a sofa bed and a bunk bed. In addition there is a small bathroom with shower and WC. By roofing the terrace an additional living room was created during the summer months! The washing machine of the landlord can be used after prior consultation.

In the surrounding lakes and waters you can, to your heart´s content, go fishing, fly fishing in the Ängeså, Linaälv and at the Linafall, you can go on a hiking tour, go cycling, go mushroom-picking and berry-picking. At the river there are different beautiful places for fishing with shelters and barbecue areas.
Several somewhat older bicycles as well as a children´s bike are available free of charge. Of course, you can also take along your own bikes. For children there are swings, a slide and a basket for basketball available.
There is also a campfire site outside. The wood-burning sauna will be used by the guests of both houses.

For shopping in Överkalix you have to cover a distance of 70 km. Therefore it is recommended to do the shopping just when you arrive in Luleå. The supermarkets in Storheden are neary always open until 21.00 o´clock. Otherwise it is recommended to do the shopping once a week in Överkalix or to use the shopping facilities during your trips and excursions.
For those people who are looking for peace and relaxation, this house really can be recommended for a stay.

During the winter months from December up to the end of March the Bagarstugan will not be rented out, because the water pipes are not really frostproof.
The costs for electricity and water are included in the price! Firewood for the open fire and sauna can be bought on-site or you get it in the forest.

Infos about the region Norrbotten

Norrbotten is a historical province in the north of Sweden and borders to Finland in the east. The capital of the province is Luleå.
Although the province is located so far up in the north, the summers at the Gulf of Bothnia are quite warm and the swimming areas are very popular. In winter, the Gulf of Bothnia freezes regularly. But not only climatically the differences in this province are huge; there is also a vast variety in different spoken languages in this province, since here, many inhabitants also speak the minority languages of Finnish and Meänkieli, a finnish dialect of the bordering region. This you will also recognize in the names of cities and villages. The first humans might have settled here already about 9000 years ago along the rivers and lakes of the area.
The province can even offer UNESCO world heritage to visit: the church village of Gammelstad near Luleå. Further interesting sights are the waterfall "Storforsen" in the Piteälven river, Luleå with its really beautiful cathedral or the world's most northern IKEA store in Haparanda, in which you can even pay in Euros. Norrbotten's landscapes are characterized by shallow but wild rivers their estuaries into the Baltic Sea, coniferous forests and skerry islands in front of the coast.
So, if you would like to travel into the north of Sweden, and yet stay at the coast, or if you would like to have a little trip to Finland, then Norrbotten is your right destination!
