Description

Original Swedish house from 1905 - with all comfort, boat and veranda!

Dear friends of Sweden,

Welcome and hej hej in Finsjö in our little "Banvaktstuga" at the river Emån. This holiday home was built in 1905 as a signalman's cottage on the narrow gauge railway line Oskarshamn - Ruda by the Swedish state railway.

The railway line was shut down about 1964 and now you can only guess where the tracks went along ...

We found the house in 2010 and fell in love. Then almost gutted and completely renovated by 2014.

The house has with the loft converted to the bedroom about 75 m² area. The large living and dining room has a cozy, large couch + an armchair, where you can enjoy the evening in the fireplace roaring fire. There is also a dining table for 4 people + toddler. The kitchen, which is quite generous for the contemplative house, offers a complete fitted kitchen with electric cooker, ceramic hob and fridge with freezer compartment. This nestles lovingly at the old cooking place from 1905.

The new bathroom is in perfectly standard, with shower with glass partition and sink. Likewise a towel warmer is ready! Separately, there is the toilet with sink.
Changing table, baby cot, high chair and toddler chair are available! Please inquire first!

The staircase surprises the beautifully developed loft as a spacious bedroom with a double bed (visually separated behind the old chimney) and two single beds. You will also find a baby bed. Also, the view through the trees to the river invites you to dream.

A true living area is the covered veranda. This is with its about 20 m² the place to relax par excellence. There is a table with 4 chairs, as well as 2 sun loungers with side table to relax. Everything, of course, in white Sweden style. The stainless steel grill then offers the culinatic frame.

For our children (2 and 4 years) we closed the veranda with a child safety device to the garden. This can be used gladly. As a result, he was always able to play relaxed on the porch without us worrying. (For dogs, of course, this is also quite practical.
Alternatively, this parental control is also there to hedge the oven.

On the porch we have a small sandbox. In addition, hangs a hammock in the garden.
In addition to running hot and cold water and electricity ;-) are of course also satellite TV with German programs available.

The beautiful red and white house is quietly located on the outskirts of Finsjö and is located on a 1,800 sqm plot with mature trees right on the river Emån. In the "Uthus" - the garden house - is also wood for the stove, if it is too cold, or the evening just a little more romantic should be :-)

30m behind the house it goes down to the jetty directly on the river. There is our boat - the "old Swede". Here the angler's heart beat higher - which angler does not dream of a holiday "almost in the river" But also for non-anglers a boat trip over the river and the directly adjacent small reservoir is a pleasure.
We have 5 lifejackets from 3 kg to 90 kg.

In the back garden, of course, the campfire site may not be missing.
(Please, depending on the weather, if necessary, observe municipal fire ban!)

Infos about the region Småland

No other historical province of Sweden is probably as well known as Småland. This is partly because of the immense popularity of the childrens' books of Astrid Lindgren, who allowed many of her stories to take place there, where she grew up herself. Småland has more to offer though than the idyll of Katthult…
While the vast majority of the stories in Lönneberga or the children of Noisy Village are known, few know about the highly interesting history of this historic province. This once consisted of many small areas (in Swedish: små land). They had the right on own legal systems and assemblies. This evolved into the areas differences and quirks that are still characteristic for the region: The historical Småland is now divided into five provinces Jönköping län, Kalmar län Kronoberg, Halland and Östergötlands län.
Småland is located in the southern part of Sweden, extending from the Baltic coast to the northwest by the Vättern lake. It borders to the historic provinces of Skåne and Blekinge in the south and to Östergötland, Västergötland and Halland in the north west. As different as the regions is the nature of Småland: Extensive coniferous forests interspersed with large swamps, and again there are many smaller and larger lakes. Just as we know it from the film adaptations of the childrens' books of Astrid Lindgren.
Småland is not only famous as the scene of Astrid Lindgren's stories, which can be admired at the amusement park "Astrid Lindgren's World" in Vimmerby. Småland is also known for its glass factories. In the Kingdom of Crystal (Swedish: Glasriket) around the city of Växjö you can visit the glass blowers craft in 14 active glass blowing workshops, and exhibitions of glass art invite you to admire the crafts. Other cities well worth a visit are for example Jönköping and Oskarshamn.
So visit the varied Småland and you enter into the idyllic scenery of the stories of Astrid Lindgren, in typically Scandinavian nature and the fascinating world of glass art!
