Holiday home right in the middle of wood and meadows in Småland

"Applekullen" is the name od a little pearl with a large property, fruit trees, an old stable building and a few small adjacent buildings. This typical Småland farm is surrounded by meadows, pastureland and wood.
You will live here very secluded in the southwestern part of the local authority district of Vimmerby. Cows and horses are grazing in the surrounding.Producing farmsteads will be found some kilometers away from here. In the forests there live hares, elks and roe deer.

Your holiday home is a cosy, typically red-painted building with two floors and it reminds somewhat of Emils home. In the ground floor you will find a shower, WC, hall, kitchen and living room with dining area. The rooms still have preserved the charm of the old time, the kitchen has been painted in 2012.
Upstairs you will find a hall and three bedrooms. A main part of the upper floor has been renovated in 2012.

In the garden there is garden furniture, embedded in the fruit trees, described earlier, and when the fruits are ripe, you can fill your fruit basket with them. The surrounding is also excellently suited for hiking tours and mushroom-picking.

Two kilometers away you will find the lake "Gissen" with footbridge where you can go swimming.

On the other side of the lake there is the 18-hole golf course of Tobo. Vimmerby with Astrid Lindgren´s World you will already reach after 20 kilometers, however, that what you have here on-site is actually already the "real" World of Astrid Lindgren, in the flesh.
Also all the other sights and attractions like Bullerby, Katthult or Kvilleken you will find not far from the holiday home.
From here you can conveniently reach the town of Hultsfred (10 km away), the wooden town of Eksjö" or the East Coast town of "Västervik", where you can go, for example, on a fishing tour on the Baltic.

All in all, after a visit to Applekullen, it is hardly possible to discover still more typical things in the Småland region, you are already just in the middle of it.

Infos about the region Småland

No other historical province of Sweden is probably as well known as Småland. This is partly because of the immense popularity of the childrens' books of Astrid Lindgren, who allowed many of her stories to take place there, where she grew up herself. Småland has more to offer though than the idyll of Katthult…
While the vast majority of the stories in Lönneberga or the children of Noisy Village are known, few know about the highly interesting history of this historic province. This once consisted of many small areas (in Swedish: små land). They had the right on own legal systems and assemblies. This evolved into the areas differences and quirks that are still characteristic for the region: The historical Småland is now divided into five provinces Jönköping län, Kalmar län Kronoberg, Halland and Östergötlands län.
Småland is located in the southern part of Sweden, extending from the Baltic coast to the northwest by the Vättern lake. It borders to the historic provinces of Skåne and Blekinge in the south and to Östergötland, Västergötland and Halland in the north west. As different as the regions is the nature of Småland: Extensive coniferous forests interspersed with large swamps, and again there are many smaller and larger lakes. Just as we know it from the film adaptations of the childrens' books of Astrid Lindgren.
Småland is not only famous as the scene of Astrid Lindgren's stories, which can be admired at the amusement park "Astrid Lindgren's World" in Vimmerby. Småland is also known for its glass factories. In the Kingdom of Crystal (Swedish: Glasriket) around the city of Växjö you can visit the glass blowers craft in 14 active glass blowing workshops, and exhibitions of glass art invite you to admire the crafts. Other cities well worth a visit are for example Jönköping and Oskarshamn.
So visit the varied Småland and you enter into the idyllic scenery of the stories of Astrid Lindgren, in typically Scandinavian nature and the fascinating world of glass art!
