Holiday oasis in peaceful, rural surroundings
The house was built in the 1940s and was one of the finest and biggest in the area! We have almost completely renovated it and it is now a very luxurious Summer home! There are all mod cons: underfloor heating in the new bathroom, air-to-air heat pumps, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, and even a Sauna! It is an absolutely huge house, being on three floors and on the ground floor, there is a massive Hall, completely rebuilt, with a wood floor and ceiling - this is an entertainment room with film projector, table tennis and games and a wood burning stove - ideal for families! It can even accomodate parties and Weddings (there's one booked for August!) and would be ideal as a Yoga hall for retreats or for Bands ( my son has a recording studio next door!!) Extra people can sleep in it too! However, there are no shortage of beds in the Pink House - there are enough beds for a total of 17 people. There are 2 brand new bathrooms - one huge and luxurious, with large walk in shower and bath tub and one very cute shower room on the third floor in the charming loft space.
The rental includes both the self contained flat in the middle of the house, the 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and the loft rooms (May to September only). The price quoted is for upto 10 persons. There is a small additional charge per person for more tham 10 people. Please ask for prices. The garden is delightful and large, with separate lawned areas and there is a barbeque and some outside seating.
On the lower ground floor is the washing machine and tumble dryer and third toilet, but best of all is an Infrared Sauna. This type of Sauna is reputed to be the most beneficial to health!
A wander into the village of Eriksberg will bring you to one of the oldest churches in Sweden and a village steeped in history. There is more history at the 12 century Varnhem Abbey, a lovely drive across picturesque countryside with meadows of botanical significance close by. For more nature, there is a beautiful swimming lake up the road from the house, 25mins on the bicycle (10 minutes in the car). Lake Hornborgasjön, a beautiful nature reserve is only 30 mins drive away. Here, up to 15,000 dancing Cranes gather each year from late March - Mid April on their migratory route to N. Sweden and Norway. However, some pairs settle locally and you can hear their haunting, bell-like, resonant call throughout the summer and if you are luck catch sight of birds in elegant flight. If you want some city life, the regional city, Borås, is just 45 minutes drive away and cultural Göteborg and the Archipelago, less than 60 (English) miles away! The west cost beaches are only a day trip away.
For winter holidays, there is family Skiing in Falköping (45 mins drive in the winter) and 6 ski slopes in Ulricehamn, which is also worth visiting in the summer for it’s large, picturesque lake with cycle tracks around the edge and lakeside cafe.
Please note:
There is no TV antenna but we have masses of films with the projector and a Playstation!

Infos about the region Västergötland
In western Sweden, we find Västergötland, which is not to be confused with the Västra Götaland Län (county), since their borders differ. Västergötland is home of the famous plains of Västergötland, which consist of several separate plains. This region is very fertile and located slightly north of the province's geographical center. The northern part of the province has relatively few lakes, but the lake Hornborgasjön famous for its famous “crane dance” (mating of the birds) can be found here. If we have a look further south, we find numerous lakes including Mjörn, Anten, Ĺsunden,Lyngen and Fegen. Try your luck at fishing! Not to be overlooked is that also Vänern is located here, Sweden's largest lake covering an area of 5648 sq. km and has a volume of 153 km3. It lies 44 meters above sea level and is Europe's third largest. Among the world's largest lakes it’s placed on the 29th place. Västergötland is one of the oldest cultural areas. The city of Gothenburg is located partly in Västergötland, it borders to Bohuslän at Hisingen in Gothenburg. With its around 550,000 inhabitants its Sweden's second largest city and offers a variety of activities, including Liseberg amusement park.
