Holiday by the lake in Bergslagen

Large rustic holiday home in beautiful Bergslagen. Most cultural memories that include 100's old copper mines, churches, ancient forests, swimming, berry and mushroom picking, fishing.

The nearest major town is Vasterås (40 km) where you will find shopping malls and cultural / entertainment. Nearest village is Skinnskatteberg (15 km) where you find grocery stores, gas station, bar, and restaurant. To Stockholm, it only takes 1.5 hours by car.

The cottage has 100 m2 living squares. 20 meters to the lake. It consists of 5 rooms with 4 beds.
Modern shower and sauna, indoor in the big building. Separate house with dry / composting toilet.

    There is NO wifi-router so you need to bring a computer/laptop. You take the 7 meter long ethernet cable (which is in the cabin) and plug it directly into the computer and you can watch movies etc (100 Mbit). You have to let the landlady know and she will go in and pay the internet (200 SEK/week) for the weeks you want.

Infos about the region Västmanland

In the interior parts of Sweden, with borders in the south to Södermanland and Närke, in the west to Värmland, in the north to Dalarna and Gästrikland and to the east to Uppland we find the province of Västmanland. The region is traditionally divided up in Bergslagen and Mälardalen.
There is evidence that Västmanland and the rest of the Mälardalen (Mälarvalley) region was populated from the west as early as after the latest ice melting. There are about 20,000 known archaeological sites to discover in the province.
In Västmanland we find six ancient cities: Västerås (founded in the year 990), Arboga (1200), Köping (1474), Sala (1624) and Lindesberg and Nora (1643), which are all worth a visit. Västerås, also called Mälarstaden (Mälar-town), is the region's largest and the country's fifth largest city with about 110,000 inhabitants.
The terrain rises from the Mälaren lake to the southeast, which has a low, deeply cut coast, where fertile plains spread. It is part of the Swedish lowlands. From the north to the south you will find ridges. In the north the land rises slowly, and the farmland decreases, which is here divided by forests and lakes. The north west is characterized by a large hilly, wooded moraine landscape, however, the plains make deep cuts along the major rivers.
Västmanland's largest lake and the country's third largest lake is called Mälaren. This is also partly located in Södermanland and Uppland and flows into the Baltic Sea. The lake is an attractive destination for fishing enthusiasts from all over Europe. There are in addition to the 33 naturally occurring fish species also planted species. The lake contains fish such as pike, perch, roach, rudd, silver bream, bream, smelt, perch, burbot, tench and bream.
