Bohuslän is what is popularly called the West Coast. The west coast is the sea, salty baths, waves and sun-drenched cliffs - it is not so strange that we make a pilgrimage to this beautiful part of Västra Götaland, every summer. Here on the West Coast there is always something to do. In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can enjoy activities such as sailing, canoeing, fishing and walking in beautiful surroundings. This part of Sweden is also full of exciting excursion destinations for the whole family and cozy archipelago gems to visit.
Uddevalla may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word West Coast, but here is everything you could wish for for a perfect West Coast holiday. The city is located in the middle of Bohuslän and is surrounded by a unique landscape with archipelago, mountains and fjords.

Herrestadsfjället, which is only a few km away, offers a strongly varied and sometimes dramatic nature with a large number of swimming and fishing lakes, bogs and hiking trails. All in all, has made Herrestadsfjället an eldorado for exercisers, hikers, fishermen and nature lovers in general.
There are many different hiking opportunities in Bohuslän. The hiking trail Kuststigen offers most things. From deciduous forest and rock carvings to piers and views of the sea. If you like hiking close to the sea, Marstrand's hiking trails are a good tip. The trails are easy to hike and offer very nice views. Then there is also the 370 kilometer long Bohusleden.

By Bohuslän standards, Uddevalla is a big city and there is a lot to experience and plenty of cafés and restaurants to visit. Here you will find, among other things, bathhouses, museums, a cinema, paddle halls, a bowling alley, Emmaus' farm, Stella's playground, mini golf course and the beach promenade, which are a must visit. This wonderful walking path along the sea leads to Gustafsberg, which is Sweden's oldest bathing and health resort, in addition to beaches, there is also a country pool with outdoor pools on large green areas free of charge.

Uddevalla arranges a city party every year around 23–25 July. This includes music, pop-up market, restaurant areas, playground and amusement park. There is something for the whole family.

Infos about the region Västergötland

In western Sweden, we find Västergötland, which is not to be confused with the Västra Götaland Län (county), since their borders differ. Västergötland is home of the famous plains of Västergötland, which consist of several separate plains. This region is very fertile and located slightly north of the province's geographical center. The northern part of the province has relatively few lakes, but the lake Hornborgasjön famous for its famous “crane dance” (mating of the birds) can be found here.
If we have a look further south, we find numerous lakes including Mjörn, Anten, Ĺsunden,Lyngen and Fegen. Try your luck at fishing!
Not to be overlooked is that also Vänern is located here, Sweden's largest lake covering an area of 5648 sq. km and has a volume of 153 km3. It lies 44 meters above sea level and is Europe's third largest. Among the world's largest lakes it’s placed on the 29th place.
Västergötland is one of the oldest cultural areas. The city of Gothenburg is located partly in Västergötland, it borders to Bohuslän at Hisingen in Gothenburg. With its around 550,000 inhabitants its Sweden's second largest city and offers a variety of activities, including Liseberg amusement park.
